50 sides of 50 Shades?

I will admit it; my curiosity has gotten the best of me more times than I can count. Sometimes, I've learned new things. Sometimes, I am scarred for life. But I never learn my lesson. See, last year a friend was talking about a book; 50 Shades of Grey. Can you guess what happened next? I got curious. And I read the book.

Honestly, it wasn't that bad. Graphic without a doubt (not that I'm saying that is a bad thing) but it was not a one-genre sort of book. In it I found elements of mystery, suspense, and comedy. Some of the most painful laughs of my life will be remembered coming from that book. What I find incredible is the shear fact that this book falls into the category of extreme emotions. Either people love it, or hate it. Admittedly, it delves into the dark side of something we have known purely to be fun and happy and light. But lets face it, everything has a dark side. Even sex.

I believe you do not truly live unless you are experiencing as many things as possible in life... within reason! And I have always gotten experiences through books, and this book gave me one that will never leave me, and what an enormous experience it was!

Some people say it is useless. Others, that it is inaccurate. Others still say it is exciting, and others say it is a dreadful bore. Personally, I found it entertaining. Forgetting the explicit scenes in the book, I enjoyed the hilarious exchanges between Christian and Ana, the hilarious awkward moments he put them both into, the mystery of Christian Grey's past, and the suspense of wondering what kinky thing Mr. Grey was going to unveil next.

I feel it is an enjoyable book for many reasons. And honestly, I'm kind of curious as to how many other people have read this book. In a way, this will tell me. because those who have read it, or at least heard about it, will have clicked to view this blog post, intrigued by the use of that number twice, and even part of the book title. For any who have read the book, feel free to leave a comment presenting your own thoughts on the book. Or if you want to read it for yourself, I will happily lend you my copy. Just be warned; it is graphic in the sexual encounters, it delves deep into the dark side of said acts, and there is no censoring whatsoever.

Don't judge a book by its cover, however. Be open minded, like our Anastasia Steele, and you just might learn something about yourself, and gain a new experience to spice up your life.
