2014 Corvette Stingray

The new 2014 Corvette Stingray is a trendsetter for Chevrolet and all American car manufacturers. It is one of the only new cars to compete with European super cars. The Corvette was designed to attract customers in the United States that would otherwise purchase one of the European super cars.

When the new Corvette was released, many changes were made to the body, chassis, engine and transmission. The designers started to stray away from the older design of the body where it was a wider more round car. From the late eighties until last year's model, the style of the corvette was a wide and round body style. This was attracting the American middle class business who wanted to go fast, but did not have the six figure number to spend on a super car. This year, the designers made the lines on the corvette more sharp and aggressive. The car is now more of a super car than the typical corvette which is the American muscle car. People that like the look and feel of a modern day muscle car are still attracted to this year's Corvette. Also, it is an affordable alternative with the same luxury and power of it's competitors. Chevrolet has upgraded the engine and the transmission of the new Corvette. This was all done to compete with the eight cylinder super charged import super cars. A seven speed manual transmission is added as an option to the Corvette. The Corvette engine was upgraded to a 6.2 liter supercharged power house. The new behemoth under the hood is making the new Corvette leave spectators guessing as to what just flew by them.   If the new Corvette is put up against a Porsche in a drag race, the Corvette would leave it in the dust. As the final performance improvement to the new Corvette, the chassis was improved to an all aluminum chassis that increases the stability of the car and decrease the weight of the car.

Another much needed improvement to the Corvette is the interior. It has been repeated over and over again that the interior to the Corvette is cheap and plastic like. The interior has been changed to leather racing style bucket seats. While piloting this new piece of art in the car industry, the leather seats add to the super car feel instead of the economy American car. The option to add carbon fiber to almost everything that is seen in the interior was also added. A navigation and radio system were combined and Chevrolet added a computer system inside the new Corvette that can compete with any modern day laptop.

With the new improvements to the 2014 Corvette Stingray, America can finally compete with the European super car market. Improvements were made to the body style, chassis, engine, transmission and the interior. The interior and body were the two biggest improvements to the new American icon. Appealing to the classic muscle car enthusiasts and the modern day super car lovers.
