Adopting a swine is the easy part, pay the old farmer and be on your way. Yet raising this little critter is quite another thing. Many may believe that its very simple, get a pen, have some mud, and feed it. Oh how wrong could you be...
If you have children then you know the swine won't be the only thing in the muddy pen that you have out back. You have to make sure that your children are not interacting to much with the animal, for they are not known for their cleanliness.
If you are planning are raising the swine for dinner one night then you have to feed it appropriate food and healthy foods in order for it to grown naturally so that your swine can be a healthy and nutritious meal. Early in the morning make sure that you feed your swine twice a day with nutritious animal feed, and allow them to graze in open fields. This allows the pig to have more muscle than fat so that you're not raising lard, but rather some nice pork.
Allowing the swine free access to a water hole is good for bathing and a fresh water supply as well. Make sure the animal is getting plenty of exercise and is living a healthy life. At least once every two weeks you should bath your swine and check up on it to make sure it has no hazards to its health.
DO NOT make it dance on the walls and ceiling and sing "Spider-Pig". This will terrify the critter and send its body into shock causing short spasms of the legs and most likely it will void its bowels all over you.
