Having a regular phone with no internet capability can become very annoying. When you are sitting next to one of your friends or a stranger, and they have a smart phone, I get very jealous of them. Since 6th grade and all the way to junior year, I have always had some kind of flip phone that can almost do nothing except text and call. I can play games but there so bad it's not even worth wasting the time.
This past Christmas was like no other Christmas. My mom asked me if I wanted to get a smartphone instead of a new game system. I took up that offer with her, I didn't know if she was serious or just wanted me to be in a good mood. I bugged her everyday about going to get my new phone. Christmas time was just around the corner and I still haven't received my phone yet. The day before Christmas Eve, I got home from school and my mom told me I was in trouble. I wasn't sure what I had done but she seemed pretty pissed off. When I sat down, She told told me that she had to show me something. I don't know if it was gonna be my grade sheet or something else but my heart was pounding out of my chest.
My mom finally told me the news. We were going to get my phone. I was so excited to go from a lame slide up phone to an Apple Iphone. When I got to the store, the employee took my phone I was using and deactivated it. He then pulled out the Iphone from the box and started doing something with it. He then gave the phone and told me "You are all set". Right there in front of my very own eyes! I had my very first Smartphone. I could now finally surf the web on the go or play games etc. It was so exciting and I knew from there on out, my life would change. All and all, my life didn't really change all that much except communicating with others was easier. To this day, I still have my Iphone but-- the truth is, I absolutely hate it. The phone is so slow with Apples new software update, the lock button is broken from a short fall off the top of the toilet and the camera lens is all scratched.
