Four O'clock...Be There

A full week, 7 days to get ready for the upset game of the season. Ask me last year what my thoughts were about the Merrimack Girls Varsity team? I would tell you they are not even worth my time. Ask me today? This is going to be a great win, no other option. Since last Wednesday against our win against another rival team. Training harder, running faster, sleeping better, eating healthier, working more, and getting prepared for one game, two halves, eighty minutes of nonstop work to beat a team that needs to lose. Waking up was no hard task, getting to school was a breeze, class? It is not going to  happen, getting ready for a game is no small matter. I don't think I thought about stomas and gandhi at all throughout my dreaded classes. My normal daydreams of swimming and eating in Mexico have transformed into demolishing a girl and preparing for a fight when a striker gets one step to close to my goalie.
Go on twitter? Pages of my fellow teammates trending the hashtag #beatmerrimack; conversations that the opponents are apart of, yet have no idea what is truly occurring. Even walking down the hallways you can hear the soccer girls yelling "get pumped!" to anyone and everyone. Yet, like every story, there always has to be a problem and this one is no different. The weather has not been cooperating all day with scattered thunderstorms and heavy rain fall. Thankfully as of right now they sky seems to be clearing up and a text conversation with the Merrimack Athletic Director put our fears to rest as he replied back, "Plan to play." Nothing could make a group of girls happier than those three little words, Plan to play.
This social media outburst might come off as cocky, but we are all well aware of what we are going into and how hard this game is going to be; no rest and dozens of over the top balls back to back that will each have to be chased down with the same amount of energy as the last. The nervous twitches, long glares, constantly updated team group message shows how much a single moment can be cherished, before, during, and after. I have never been so excited for a game than this one, and what makes me truly love these girls is that I am not alone in my excitement; they are right beside me, and will be throughout the entire game.
